Tile Solutions 13″ Tile Cutter
I recently bought the Tile Solutions Tile Cutter at Lowes to do a mid sized kitchen job. Approximately 225 square feet worth of 12″ ceramic floor tiles. The tiles were expensive so I was hoping to save a few bucks on a tile cutter because there were not a bunch of tiles that needed cut. I think I counted 14 of them.
The tiles I got were 12″ square and 1/2″ thick, and the specs on the tile cutter were that it is supposed to handle 13″ tiles up to 5/8″ thick. Should be fine right? Wrong!
No word of a lie, after trying to cut the 2nd tile the sonsabitching handle snapped right off! Man was I steamed. I even tried to jury-rig it by putting a vice grip pliers on it and using it for a handle. This worked for a pc or 2 but my hand was ready to fall off.
Funny thing is the directions say you are only to score the tile one time…well I had to do it 3 times to get a worthy score to even break these tiles.
The official Berate.com rating on this product is very low. I took it back and got the Tile Solutions 17″ Tile Cutter which is twice the price, but worked like a charm. Don’t waste your time messing with the dinky 13″ cutter unless you are cutting very thin tiles. It is well worth the money upgrading to the better tool.

I was able to cut one 4×4 ceramic tile, and that was it. On the second tile it broke. Spend the $19 towards a wet saw.
